Kelulut stingless bee Trigona honey has a positive direct and immediate effect on the brain.
Before this, one of my students provided proof and evidence that Kelulut honey helps to increase the memory and learning in mice. Now, another student of mine (Masters graduate) with a molecular research of Kelulut honey and the effects on the brain.
The end result of the research shows that Kelulut honey has a direct and immediate effect on the Protein Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and all the related downstream brain cells.
The increase of BDNF expression indicates a new postulation that Kelulut honey can be used to increase the memory activity and reduce tension (depression) directly.
Could this be one of the factors why Stingless beekeepers are always cheerful? Another research is being carried out by one of my newer students as a follow up to this.

Sebelum ni, pelajar saya membuktikan madu kelulut boleh tingkatkan memori dan pembelajaran dalam kajian pada tikus. Kini seorang lagi pelajar master bergraduat dengan kajian molekular bagi kesan madu kelulut pada otak.
